About

I started knitting in high school and thought it would be really cool to spin my own yarn from my own sheep.

After years of dreaming about it, and attending a sheep and fiber festival, I realized I HAD to learn to spin.  I didn't have the budget for a spinning wheel, but I could make a spindle for next to nothing.  So I did.  I watched videos that made spindle spinning look so easy and simple.  It's not.  I hated it.  I gave up.  But the dream of spinning wouldn't go away.

I decided to try again.  This time I had someone to learn with and we took lessons together.  The teacher gave us a spindle and I wanted to cry.  No please, not the spindle.  Instruction, patience, support, encouragement, practice, determination.  Success!  We graduated to the spinning wheel.  I loved spinning on a wheel!

I became fascinated with learning all I could about spinning and fiber and everything connected with it.  There is something magical about taking a raw, greasy, dirty fleece, processing that into a beautiful yarn and then making something with that yarn.  I love the whole process.  The possibilities are endless.

Sharing my passion and fun fiber stuff has led to FiberArtsHouse.  Everything is joyfully handcrafted by me. Well, except for the raw fleece of course--the sheep get credit for that.  And all other fiber animals.  Please visit often; there will be new fibers, new yarns, new items.

Thank you for coming on this journey with me.
